This position fabricates and assembles metal products according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers' expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers' needs.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
- Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
- Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, shielded metal arc, and resistance welding.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
- May fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
- Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using straightedges, tape measures, and rulers.
- May set up and operate machine tools associated with fabricating shops, such as drill presses, end mill, and edge planer.
- Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
- Cut, stack, punch, layout, paint, package, and mark angle of material as requested in regards to paint booth operations.
- Work with various departments to locate processed materials, check quality, and obtain work instructions.
- May assist Fabrication Supervisor or other Supervisors in other duties or special projects as needed.

- Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events: Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Controlling Machines and Processes: Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
- Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
- Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment: Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Tools: Personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety glasses, welding shields, etc.), welding equipment, painting equipment, and other applicable fabrication equipment.
- Technology: Electronic mail software, time management software, and ERP software.
Qualifications
- This particular position requires the individual to have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-2 years of specific vocational preparation; or equivalent combination of experience.
Preferences
- Vocational or technical degree preparation especially in blueprint reading.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities, but may train other fabricators or new hires in the position. May be required to direct the actions of those select employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and be able to communicate verbally and in writing and take direction. The employee is frequently required to be in a stationary position, move about the buildings and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, operate machinery, and use eye-hand coordination.
