The DevOps Engineer will build and maintain automation of MSG Ventures software development operations activities. They will manage the building of scalable systems, monitoring, alerting, and tools. This is a hands-on position that will lead by example. The ideal DevOps engineer has a broad skillset, including knowledge of development, operations, security, infrastructure, and support. They will work collaboratively with other engineering teams to deploy and operate our systems, help automate and streamline operations and processes, build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, and troubleshoot and resolve issues. The successful candidate will bring a strong engineering background with a focus on automation, and innovation in physical and cloud environments.Specific Functions/Activities Summary
- Build, develop, and manage a high-performing infrastructure to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and changing business in a rapidly changing technology landscape
- Take responsibility for the overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects
- Oversee the development of automation and processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, configure and scale their applications in physical data centers as well as in the cloud, including SLAs, 24x7 monitoring, alerting and return to service
- Design and implement appropriate scalable environments for backend applications and services, while engineering suitable release management procedures and providing production support.
- Develop and enable continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) for automation system components.
- Own partnership with cross-functional technology, design, and production teams to ensure consistent, beneficial team interaction and solution delivery.
Qualifications
- A strong drive for continuous improvement
- BS degree in CS, EE, CE or equivalent work experience along these lines; 5+ years of experience in Operations or Software Engineering with 2+ years in a dedicated DevOps position
- You have recent experience with cloud-based CI/CD workflows
- Experience managing one or more cloud computing platforms, as well as physical computing platforms
- Experience with virtualization, containerization, autoscaling and auto configuration techniques and technologies
- Experience working with a wide range of open source tools and distribution platforms
- Experience in change management, incident management, software development and automated deployment of both software and systems
- Strong communication skills, ability to interact with stakeholders, ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
