The Department of Architectural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Assistant Research Professor in the area of uncertainty quantification and probabilistic analysis of model validity. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with Dr. Sez Atamturktur in developing a research agenda in obtaining external research funds and disseminating research findings in leading journals of the field. Moreover, the successful candidate is expected to support graduate student advising and development of cutting edge, multidisciplinary research projects related to the smart built environment. If needed, the successful candidate may develop graduate and undergraduate courses to support teaching activities of the department. The candidate must currently possess a PhD degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates with at least two to three years of postdoctoral experience are preferred. The candidate must be proficient in programming languages such as Matlab and Phyton and have substantive experience using one or more of the following commercial Finite Element Analysis software packages: ANSYS, ABAQUS, COMSOL, or similar programs. The candidate must have a record for involvement in multidisciplinary research projects, which may include faculty, research staff, students, administrative staff, contractors, and consultants. The preferred candidate must demonstrate strong technical knowledge and skills that are directly relatable to Big Data analytics, including: Bayesian inference, System identification, Machine Learning, Stochastic inverse analysis, Uncertainty quantification, High-performance computing, Signal processing, and designing and conducting full-scale experiments for validating methods. The candidate must have experience drafting grant proposals for the US federal and state funding agencies. The candidate must have a track record of publication in leading journals of the field and demonstrate the evidence of solving challenging research problems.
